Top Project Published Writing Posts (Organized 3 Ways)

Happy Thursday!

For the past few weeks, I’ve been curating a directory to organize all of the Project Published writing posts. I’ve sorted the directory into sections so that you can choose the specific area that is most applicable to where you are in your writing process.

Today, I wanted to highlight this directory (as well as two other bonus directories) and show you how I’ve organized the posts.

The Project Published Directory is organized into 10 sections:

  1. Plot

Pretty self-explanatory; this section hosts useful storytelling tools to help you better understand the components of a truly compelling plot.

  2. Character

Readers might come for the plot, but they stay for the character.

The only way to make your story timeless and addictive is to craft memorable, relatable, interesting characters. You’ll find tons of posts breaking down how to do just that in this section, as well as ways to strengthen your character chemistry and relationships.

(In my opinion, memorable character relationships are just as important to my love of a story as the individual characters themselves.)

  3. Story Structure

Structure is the backbone of your story. Deepening my knowledge and skill of story structure was the most important thing I did when learning how to craft a full-length novel. Learn the ins and outs of the three-act story structure in this section.

  4. Romance

I’m a romance junkie. A story is unlikely to become a favorite of mine if it is weak on the romance.

But just like any story tool, writing strong romance is a skill. This section houses each of the posts I’ve created that apply specifically to the topic of writing and breaking down good romance.

  5. Emotion

I once heard a literary agent say that our most important job as storytellers is to make readers feel. I’m fully on board with that sentiment, which is why I’ve dedicated so many posts to mastering the craft of writing emotion.

You’ll find those posts in this section. (Note: any post that has a parenthesis indicating “writing emotion” will touch on emotionality in some form.)

  6. Prose

I don’t focus much on the line-level craft of writing, but it is a crucial skill to master. Any posts I have written on prose can be found in this section.

  7. Getting Started

When I first decided I wanted to write a novel, I had no idea where to start. If you’re in the same boat, the posts in this section might be especially helpful.

  8. Mindset

When tackling any goal, cultivating a useful mindset is important. I’ve written a few posts that touch on things like writer’s block and other mental barriers and breakthroughs in this section.

  9. Writing Life

Writing is a journey! And I’m living it right alongside every other author. This section hosts any posts that encapsulate my personal writing life, or any posts that might be helpful to make your writing life more robust and effective.

  10. Book Recommendations & Wrap-Ups

First and foremost, I am a reader. And every so often I like to write about the things I read. You’ll find any posts dedicated to specific reading recommendations in this section.

Be sure to check out the Project Published Directory here.

Bonus Directories

If you’re looking for other ways to find organized posts, you can check out the Story Database, where I highlight the specific stories I’ve referenced or broken down in posts, and the Emotion Database, where I highlight specific emotions I’ve broken down in storytelling.
